writing about the beef business and its producers since 1980, when
she graduated from Texas A&M University with an ag-journalism
degree. She and her two teenage daughters reside on 100 acres
outside of Canton, Texas, where they raise registered Simmental
and Simbrah cattle. She has been a feature writer for the Southern
Livestock Standard, for more than 15 years and was a member of the
Brangus Journal staff from 1980-1984. She regularly writes for a
number of publications today including Brangus Journal, Cascade
Cattleman, Maine-Anjou Voice, Southwest Reference and other ag
publications and websites.
She can identify with small producers, who try to juggle outside
jobs, kids and handle the many aspects involved in cattle
production. In addition, she serves as a 4-H Leader, is a member
of the Van Zandt County Fair Association and Canton FFA Alumni
Organization. She was raised in rural Missouri on a commercial
cow/calf operation and has made a career of writing about the
industry she loves and rural life.
